Website Checker / Site age

Website age checker: how old is your website, and does it show?

When the domain was registered, when the site first appeared in the public web archive, and the latest year in the copyright line — the signs visitors use to judge whether a site is cared for. The year is always approximate.

What the colours mean

  • OK. The copyright year is current — the site looks maintained.
  • Needs attention. The copyright line says the site was last touched 2–4 years ago.
  • Problem. The copyright line is 5 or more years old. Visitors read it as "this company may no longer exist".

Why it matters for your business

  • An old year in the footer quietly lowers trust before anyone reads your offer.
  • Old designs are usually not built for phones, where most visitors are.
  • An old site often hides old platforms and components (see the other indicators).

What you can do yourself

  • Make the year in the footer update automatically.
  • Update your contact details, prices and photos.
  • Look at the site on a phone as a customer would.

Common doubts

Old doesn't mean bad, does it?

True. But visitors judge a site in seconds, and an old design usually means old code underneath.

Will a redesign hurt our Google rankings?

Not if the old addresses are redirected to the new ones — that is part of every OLBO redesign.

What this usually costs
