Website GDPR check: Google Fonts and trackers without consent
Whether the home page loads fonts from Google's servers (which sends every visitor's IP address to Google) and whether tracking scripts appear in the code without a known consent tool. This is a quick automated look, not legal advice.
What the colours mean
- OK. No Google-hosted fonts and no trackers without a consent tool were found.
- Needs attention. Fonts load from Google, or trackers appear without a visible consent tool.
- Problem. Several privacy risks at once.
Why it matters for your business
- In January 2022 a Munich court (Landgericht München) ordered a website owner to pay a visitor €100 because Google Fonts sent the visitor's IP address to Google without consent.
- Similar claims followed in Germany; the fix is simple, the hassle is not.
- Trackers that run before consent are a common reason for GDPR complaints.
What you can do yourself
- Download the fonts and serve them from your own server.
- Make sure analytics and advertising scripts load only after the visitor agrees.
- Mention every third-party service in your privacy policy.
What OLBO can do
Technical website audit — from €490, 2 working days: a report with exact instructions for your developer.
Common doubts
We are not in Germany — does this matter?
The ruling was German, but GDPR applies to every site that serves visitors in the EU. Self-hosting fonts removes the risk entirely and costs little.
Do we have to remove Google Analytics?
No. Under GDPR it may run only after the visitor agrees — usually through a consent banner.
