Balabony

Task

A reading platform for contemporary Ukrainian authors. Reading is free and needs no registration; a subscription unlocks more, and for internally displaced people, veterans and people with disabilities it costs UAH 1 a year. Authors have their own dashboards; the editorial team has tools for working with hundreds of works.

What we did

• Subscriptions paid through LiqPay and a server-side paywall: free episodes are visible to everyone, the rest to subscribers.
• Author dashboard: works, reading statistics, the contract and the list of works.
• Editorial admin panel: publication schedule, read-through analytics, cover management.
• The AI assistant for descriptions sees only the beginning of a text, so it cannot give away the ending; only an editor can save a description.
• Five RSS feeds: for reader apps and the ukr.net news aggregator, with 18+ serials kept separate from family ones.
• WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility audit: 23 errors fixed down to zero; a separate theme for people with dyslexia.
• Diia integration: verifying benefit status (internally displaced people, combat veterans) for access at UAH 1 a year.
