Website hosting checker: who hosts your website and how fast it answers
Who owns the network your website lives on, in which country it is registered, whether the site sits behind a CDN, and how fast the server starts answering.
What the colours mean
- OK. The server answers quickly (under 0.8 seconds). Visitors do not wait for the page to start loading.
- Needs attention. The server takes 0.8–3 seconds just to start answering. Every page feels sluggish before anything appears.
- Problem. The server takes more than 3 seconds to start answering. Many visitors leave before they see anything.
Why it matters for your business
- A slow server makes every page slow, however good the design is.
- Google takes speed into account when ranking pages.
- If you serve customers in the EU and the server is outside the EU, your hosting contract should cover GDPR data transfers.
What you can do yourself
- Ask your hosting provider whether page caching is enabled.
- Check whether your plan is the cheapest shared one — those servers are often overloaded.
- Consider putting the site behind a CDN (Cloudflare has a free plan).
What OLBO can do

Common doubts
Is moving to another hosting risky?
Done properly, no: the old server keeps working until the new one is checked, and the switch itself takes minutes.
Isn't cheap hosting good enough?
For a small site it often is. But if the server needs more than 0.8 seconds just to start answering, every page feels slow.
